Are you tired of the simplistic infographic 7 Steps to Leadership Success?
You’ve seen them. I see them all the time when someone posts the 5, or 7 or 10 keys or secrets to success, joy, peace, and happiness. Really, is it that simple? NO. You’ll see hundreds or even thousands of people “like” or share them and state “Agreed. Yes. Or Amen!”
It’s the same stuff over and over again. These lists may be great as a starting point for those people that have no experience and are new to management or leadership but if you are an experienced manager or leader and thinking all you need to do is check a couple of boxes from these lists every day, you’re missing the point.
Becoming an effective leader or manager is hard work! It goes beyond a checklist. It requires a commitment to personal growth, transformation, and to do the heavy lifting required to connect, inspire and develop a team. Use the list as a reminder, but not as the game plan for leading and managing.
