The headline of an email caught my eye.
“People who read business books make more money – a lot more!”
The article continues and states that “According to a number of studies, businesspeople, who read at least 7 business books a year earn over 2.3 times more than those who read only one book per year”.
You’ve likely heard similar stats yourself. The proof is undeniable – reading makes you smarter and more interesting to others, provides fresh perspectives so you can make better decisions, and offers new ideas to help you be more successful.

I’ve found that the most effective leaders, whether by title or by their actions, are those that are constantly learning and growing. You see, reading provides fresh perspective and new ideas to deal with challenges and capitalize on opportunities.

Reading helps you become a more effective leader, manager, and just a more interesting person in general.

So, what should you read? Fiction and nonfiction, biographies, historical accounts of world events. You can read journals, blogs, or subscribe to newsletters relating to your profession.

If you’re someone who struggles to read books, then subscribe to a podcast, follow a vlogger, or watch TED Talks.

You see, there’s no wrong answer. The key is to find something that you connect with and find engaging.

Here are three books that have impacted me professionally and made me a better resource to my clients.

John Maxwell’s – How Successful People Lead.

Simon Sinek’s – Start with Why.

Michael Bungay Stanier’s – The Coaching Habit.

So, what’s on your list?
