As fall is clearly on the horizon and I begin to prepare for the demands of a busy fall schedule, it is important to take the time to clarify my priorities and find ways to deliver value to my clients. Balancing personal and professional goals is important in order to remain effective and live with integrity to my personal convictions and still have fun.
I’ve identified 3 priorities for this fall and am sharing them to inspire you to create your own list.
1. Clear purpose. Strive to make every client interaction, conversation, coaching and training session high impact. Ensure my personal values, standards and ethics are applied in order to deliver value to my clients, family and community.
2. Listen actively. Being a good listener is hard work and requires commitment and effort. I want to demonstrate my interest in, and understanding of, my client’s requirements in order to provide relevant and beneficial solutions. This means remaining fully engaged and focusing on their requirements, challenges and goals.
3. Finish well. Starting with purpose, passion and conviction are important, however finishing in similar fashion is critical. I am challenging myself to remain on task and not get distracted. Many interesting opportunities and good causes cross my desk and screen every day. It is important to know what to say yes to and what to ignore if I am to finish well.
Have you set some goals for this fall that will make you better, take you out of your comfort zone and make you more valuable to your clients, colleagues and family?
